I was very fortunate to have some very good friends who helped me put on
this Special Event as part of the Island Walking Festival. Either with helping
me put out the 47 controls in the rain the evening before, at the Finish on the
day, Researching, amending and printing the maps, Planning and putting out the
String and Manning the Registration on the day.
This is what it takes to put on each Orienteering Event apart from a lot
of time in planning and going over the ground beforehand to see if the control
sites are suitable and accessible and will make interesting courses for the
different orienteering abilities.
Many thanks to all the people who supported us on the day and hope you
all enjoyed the courses amid the beautiful bluebells, rhododendrons and coastal
views of this part of the Island. We even had someone from the British
Orienteering Team who came all the way from Bournemouth cycling to our event
over the downs. He was even kind enough to Email us with his appreciation for
putting on the Event. His words were 'well worth the trip'.... This
is what it takes to make the British Orienteering Team chaps. He did, of
course, come first.
Many thanks again to Christine, Eileen, Margaret, Daniel, Sue & Glyn
and Ian for all their help and support.
