FROLIC IN FRESHWATER QUIZ

Report

What started out to be a real scorcher of a day soon turned into a south westerly wind blowing when Pete & myself arrived to set up the yearly orienteering quiz walk event at the ŒFat Catı, this in its own right turned out to be misleading as it is now known as the Sandpipers Hotel. Well to our surprise the 14 teams consisting of 60+ contestants including children as young as my granddaughter of 2 years & even younger ones who came with Merrickstan entrant found us & only to eager to get started.

The event this year proved quite a teaser amongst most of you, with the top scoring team Band 4 only managing 28 points out of a possible 36. The favourites in past years The Totland Tearaways with backup help of son Dan & girlfriend & on familiar territory managed a final position of 6th out of 14.

The questions which failed you most are as follows:-

Whatıs flying above sea level? Answer Peregrine Falcon & Fulmer

Itıs a suspended tri-circle. Answer Padlock on a fence near the track leading to the golf course.

ŒEarnsı around Alaska Answer which we counted 9 when we finalised the clue sheet. Most of you were getting answers of 8, but one of the teams asked the owner & he said there where 8 + a birdbath.

But the fact is Pete & I are the organises & our decision is final!

Anyway folks thanks for your support we raised £67 towards WightO funds & hope to see you all again next year.
