On
the Tuesday after the Firestone event, Dougie Saunders had placed the equipment
up my back passage. If that wasn't painful enough it suddenly dawned on me that
there were 12 days to the NightO event and I had done nothing regards planning
for it. With work commitments and Christmas I only had one day , come rain or
shine, to survey the forest.
As it turned out it was snow, about three inches, and I
spent most of my time taking pictures and throwing snowballs at Julia, who
braved the elements with me. So, relying on my knowledge of Parkhurst, I
surveyed the map and planned the event from my backside on the armchair at
home.
Okay
so there were a couple of 'iffy' controls sites and, Yes, I'll admit
some
were hard enough in daylight never mind a frosty Monday night. The less said
about the footpath to the squirrel hide on the bit map being 50 meters out the
better. But the thirty plus who turned out were kind enough to say they had
some fun in the darkness. As I was using the clock on the car dashboard I've
given two minutes grace on the time set ( 75 minutes) and I think that makes
the results fair.
My
thanks to Ian Ralph for assisting at Registration and for collecting in the
controls the following aftenoon. This gave him the opportunity to find the ones
he didn't visit the night before.
Hope
to see you all again next year.

Sorry, that should be ' Pete the Plonker" )
