Planners Report

A couple of evenings armchair planning followed by two visits to Combley to plan this event. We had decided to do all our planning before our visit to the Six Day Orienteering event in Scotland at the beginning of August

Therefore it was in a wet and muddy July that the courses were planned, quite different to the actual day of the event, which was warm and dry.

The controls on the Yellow course have to be on the paths. But with a good path network in the forest we were able to make this course quite varied

Some route choice was available on the Orange course. So following the ditches on a couple of the legs was probably the best option.

On planning the Light Green and Green courses we tried to use different control sites to previous events. The idea was to plan the courses so that the direct route was probably the best choice To avoid the use of a second Master Map on the Green Course lots of changes in direction meant that we had to use a lot of controls. This did also mean that this course covered most of the forest. Judging by the remarks at the finish most of you enjoyed the courses.

Congratulations to those who did well. especially Richard Eastaff who completed the Green Course in less than an hour. Commiserations to those who didn't do so well, or missed controls, or mis-punched.

Thanks to all who helped out at this event. See you all at the next one.
