HEADON WARREN - 9TH APRIL 2006
PLANNER'S REPORT
The weather was bright and breezy when Eileen and I went to the Warren on the Saturday to put out the more outlying controls. It could not have been more perfect for having an orienteering event but the doubts crowded in that tomorrow (Sunday) the weather would turn out to be atrocious, you canšt have two days this time of the year perfect can you? But we did, it was amazing, even the wind had dropped when we arrived around 7.30am to put out the rest of the Controls and get everything else set up. We even amazed ourselves by finishing early and ready for the first competitors just after 10am.
I admit I had great fun trying to find different
Control Sites for this event and getting every Course to Start their run in
different directions, not realising at the time that there would be more people
interested in the Triple Crown than on the Long Course itself.
Our Keith Marston was only beaten into 1st
place on the Triple Crown by Neil Morey from Vestas by 6mins. So the
Crown and T-Shirt goes to a non-member this time, but Keith will have a free
pass to one of our local events and one of our new enamel WightO badges.
Our Ian Ralph came 3rd 7minutes behind Keith and will get a free
badge.
We think it really went off well and everyone
that entered the Triple Crown were very competitive and seemed to enjoy
themselves. It was something different and I think appreciated by all
that entered.
Many thanks to Jim, Sue, Glyn, Dave, Chris,
Martin, Beryl and to Eileen whose idea it was, I just devised the courses.
